If a dividend is paid out, you have 2 options. Dividends can either be reinvested in the company or paid out:
I. How can I reinvest dividends?
- If you decide to reinvest your dividend, you must send us the corresponding instruction form in due time. You can find this form in your profile. Please make sure that the form is filled out correctly and signed, otherwise the instruction cannot be processed.
- Your dividend can only be reinvested if the dividend amount is at least equal to the reinvestment price of a whole stock. Only whole new stocks can be acquired during reinvestment. The remaining amount will be credited to you. So if the amount paid out is not enough to buy a whole new stock, the dividend amount will be credited to you.
- You can then view your exact statement in your profile. Here you can see how many stocks you have purchased with your dividend and what amount was paid out.
- The newly acquired stocks are usually credited within a few weeks after the payment date of the cash dividend.
II. How do I receive dividends in cash?
- If you decide to receive your dividend in cash, you don't need to do anything else.
- If we don’t receive any instructions from you, the dividend will automatically be paid in cash. You’ll receive your exact statement in your profile.
We have 2 different dividend/distributions yields:
- Historic yields (past 4 years): Sum of dividends within that year based on the pay out date divided by the last closing price at the end of the year.
- Forwarded yield (current year): Latest dividend paid divided by the closing price of the last trading day.
*Exception for forwarded yield: If the dividend is higher then 2.5 times the usual dividend we won’t use it for the forwarded yield calculation, because it highly likely that this was a special dividend and this won’t happen in the future. That means, special dividends are not used for calculating the forward yield.
Key details:
- Special dividends/distributions are included for the historical yield.
- The payout date is used to assign the dividends to the respective year (not the ex-date).
- Dividend amount and yield are being (reverse) split adjusted.
- If a dividend is paid in a foreign currency, we use the average daily exchange rate of the respective payout date to exchange the amount to €.
