As a Belgian resident, you must declare and pay taxes on all transactions executed on an exchange, including transactions that you made in the Trade Republic app.
The Belgian tax on stock-exchange transactions (TST) — also known as Taks op de beursverrichtingen (TOB) or Taxe sur les opérations de bourse — is calculated as a percentage of the total price of your executed orders. The tax rate depends on the type of securities you've invested in (for example, a stock is taxed differently than an ETF).
Each month, we'll send you a tax report in the app (find it in your Timeline in the Profile section). Please review the report and use the information to fill out your declaration concerning tax on stock exchange transactions:
- Download and print the declaration form.
- Complete and sign the form, and send it to CPIC.TAXDIV@minfin.fed.be as an attachment.
- The declaration must be filed and the tax paid no later than the last working day of the second month following the month the transaction was executed. For example, for transactions executed during October 2022, the deadline is December 30, 2022.
- It’s important that you include a payment reference in your transfer and structure it as follows: “TOB/[your identification number]” (for example, “TOB/12345678”) so that your transfer can be matched to you.
- The tax must be paid via bank transfer or deposit to the following bank account:
