It is best for you as our client if your money is held in an omnibus trust account - since, for example, individual accounts would result in higher fees.
In case you have a virtual IBAN of one of our partner banks your money is held in one of our omnibus trust accounts with one of our partner banks. Currently, these are Deutsche Bank AG, J.P. Morgan SE, HSBC Continental Europe S.A. and Citibank Europe plc.
In case you have already activated your new Trade Republic IBAN, your money is held in up to two omnibus trust accounts and for higher balances is further diversified into liquidity funds.
The banks are also supervised by the respective regulatory authorities, such as the Deutsche Bundesbank and BaFin (Federal Financial Supervisory Authority Germany). All client funds are kept separate from Trade Republic's assets. The statutory deposit protection covers up to €100,000 per customer per credit institution.
The mutual claims from the custody account management and from the transactions carried out on your behalf are offset and the current amount of your balance is determined on the basis of this. This way, we ensure that you can see your cash balance in real time.
We directly settle the securities orders and the processing of payments in connection with the custody of the securities.
