You can activate your current account to benefit from the following new banking features:
Send money: Transfer money to anyone and pay your bills
Receive money: Receive transfers from anyone, including your salary
Automate payments: Set up scheduled transfers and direct debits
Who is eligible for the Trade Republic current account?
To ensure a smooth user experience for our customers, access to current account features will be rolled out gradually over the coming weeks. You’ll receive a notification to upgrade your account once you are eligible.
All new customers based in Germany will be provided with the Trade Republic current account as standard.
How do I activate the Trade Republic current account once I am eligible?
You can upgrade to a current account and benefit from new banking features by following these steps in the app:
- Update your app to the latest version
- Login to the app
- From the Wealth tab, tap on the banner Activate your current account
- Next, tap on Activate to accept the new customer agreement
Once this has been completed, you’ll receive an email and the app confirmation that your current account features have been activated and you can start using them straight away.
Do I receive a new IBAN after activating the current account?
You will not receive a new IBAN if you activated the Trade Republic IBAN a few months ago.
For customers who never activated the Trade Republic IBAN, your new IBAN can be viewed by clicking on your avatar in the app, under the Account section.
What happens if I do not activate the Trade Republic current account?
If you decide not to activate the new current account features, your account can still be used with the present clearing account set up However, your account cannot be used to receive / send payments to/from third parties, pay via direct debit or use any upcoming current account features.
You can always decide to activate at a later date.
Which transfers can I receive with my current account?
We currently only accept incoming transfers sent in Euros from an account within the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). International transfers from Non-SEPA-countries and any transfer in a non-Euro currency, will be returned automatically to the sender’s account.
Outgoing transfers to non-SEPA countries or in currencies other than Euro are not available for now.
Are there any fees associated with the Trade Republic current account?
There are no fees for the current account.
