ETF stands for exchange-traded fund. ETFs can be traded on the stock exchange during trading hours without an issue surcharge. There is only a difference (spread) between the bid and ask price. An ETF is based on the weighting of a specific index, such as the DAX. However, an ETF can also track indices on asset classes other than equities, such as commodities or currencies.
