We’ve made changes to how we calculate the portfolio performance to make your portfolio returns more robust and reliable:
- The chart now also shows nights and weekends, allowing you to better track crypto returns.
- Interest payments are removed from the calculation so your return is not linked to cash transactions.
- You’ll see fewer unexpected dips or spikes associated with portfolio events, such as stock splits.
Please note that the amount of your Wealth and Cash values are unaffected by this change.
Chart
The line chart on the wealth screen is designed to offer a clear visual representation of your portfolio's performance. The x-axis displays different time periods and the y-axis shows the relative performance of your portfolio in a given time period. While your portfolio value gets updated in real-time, the line chart gets updated only every 10 minutes. The chart on the Wealth screen is always based on the bid price of the assets in your portfolio.
Performance Labels
We display your portfolio performance below your total portfolio value on the top part of the wealth screen. When you hover over the chart, we display the historical performance your portfolio had until that time. You can switch between absolute and relative performance by clicking on the number label.
Absolute performance
The absolute performance of your portfolio is calculated by adding up the following items:
- Realized Gains and Losses: Profits or losses realized through the sale of investments in the past are included (these are included even for instruments no longer in your portfolio. This might explain why the sum of individual position returns may not match the total absolute performance displayed)
- Unrealized Gains and Losses: Gains & losses are based on the bid prices of the positions you hold
- Dividends and Bond Coupon Payments: Payments you've received from dividends and bond coupons are factored into the performance
- Fees and Taxes: These are also included in the calculation to provide a comprehensive view of your portfolio's performance
The following items are not included in calculation of your absolute performance:
- Performance-neutral events such as Securities Transfers or Free Stocks (Referral Bonuses)
- All types of cash payments such as interest on your cash, deposits and withdrawals, card transactions, etc.
Relative performance
We calculate the relative performance of your portfolio by dividing the absolute returns of your portfolio in the selected time period by the average size of the portfolio in the selected time period.
