US persons aren’t eligible to open an account with us. In a nutshell, we don’t accept customers who are US citizens or who are taxable persons in the United States (known as FATCA customers).
In legal terms, you’re a US person if:
- You’re a US citizen (even if you have dual citizenship)
- You’re a resident in the United States or a US resident alien (for example, you have a Green Card or a Substantial Presence)
- You were born in the United States/on US territory
- You’re a taxable person in the United States (for some other reason than above)
